Acupuncture applications are known to trace back to 5000 and even 6000 years before. However, the most comprehensive source we have belongs to Huang Di Nei Jing and was written in 200 BC. 282 points were defined in the book called "The Internal Diseases of the Yellow Emperor."

It tells about the Taoist philosophy forming the basis of the acupuncture. It explains two different energy notions Yin and Yan which work harmonically and contradict each other, the Main Element, the organ and twelve meridians system. It includes information that is valid even today.
